A couple of photos with the new 50 1.8. Still a lot to learn with it but these weren't bad for just messing around. Hope to have it dialed for the upcoming trip to DC.

Pow!

Pulled the trigger and picked up a 50mm/1.8 at the local camera store today. Price was a bit more than online but it was about the same when the shipping costs were figured in plus I have it on my camera now. I'll get a couple of pictures up in the next couple of days.

NAS

Christmas has come and gone and a second battery was added to my kit. Now I think it's time to add a couple lenses to the collection. I think I'm going to get a Nikon 50mm f1.8 af-d, it will be manual focus on the D60 but for shooting static objects that should be fine and the next body (2-4 years probably) should be able to drive it. Also looking at the Sigma or Tamron 70-300 f4-5.6 with a motor so it will focus, it's significantly less than the Nikon version but doesn't have VR however it will give me more reach than I have with the 55-200 that came with the camera.

Here are a couple photos from today.

Still haven't gotten out

Still haven't gotten outside to take any photos. When I'm home it seems to be dark, snowing or single digit temperatures. Hopefully after the craziness of Christmas passes I'll have some time. There has been a moose in the neighborhood lately so maybe I can get a few of him/her soon.

About the Name and Welcome

2062.5 is the summer pool level of Lake Pend Oreille (pond oray) in north Idaho. It's one of my favorite places to spend time relaxing and recharging the batteries.

I just picked up a D60 with the 18-55 VR kit lens and a 55-200 non-VR lens. Also a Lowepro Slingshot 200AW camera bag.

I used to shoot a lot of photos with a Pentax K1000 but got out of it about 15 years ago as I didn't have access to a darkroom any longer and developing film was getting expensive. I'm really looking forward to getting back into taking photos; macro, landscape, nature, action, travel and family shots will probably all find their way onto this page.

Since it has been snowing LOTS since the camera arrived the only photos so far are indoors. Here is one.
