New Camera!!

Bought a used D200 with a MB-200 grip from a fellow on dgrin.com. Have shot with it a couple times but not a lot yet. Really looking forward to the faster fps and more controls at my fingertips rather than buried in the menus.

Apparently the eagles are arriving at Couer d'Alene so maybe will try to head over there one weekend morning with the 70-200 and 1.4TC and see what I can get. With it being the Christmas season there is plenty going on at work and at home so not sure when I will be able to make that trip and the weather needs to warm up as well, it was 8* last night when I took the dog for a walk.

Finally got around to sorting through some soccer shots. Here are a couple for now.

Been shooting a few soccer pictures this fall but haven't gotten anything uploaded yet. Also been taking the new puppy, Emma, out for a couple long walks most every day. I've started a gallery of Emma pictures at SmugMug. There is just one gallery for now. One of these days I'll get some soccer shots uploaded as well as more Emma photos. Also hoping to shoot some hockey during the upcoming year and of course the leaves are starting to turn so might get some fall color pics as well.

Wooden Boats

Summer is here and I haven't been posting anything. Here are a couple from the wooden boat show in Sandpoint, Idaho a couple of weeks ago. Hope to be able to shoot and post some additional photos during my upcoming vacation.

been a long time...

Wow, I didn't realize it had been so long since I posted something. Spring has been busy with soccer games and the general stuff that is part of life. haven't had the camera out at all in awhile (see previous sentence.

The weather has finally turned and trees are blossoming so maybe get out this weekend or next to try and get some photos.

Back

Well, I decided not to take the camera down to Vegas for the Red Rock Rendezvous and it proved to be a wise decision. Didn't really have time to myself where I could have gone shooting and a big windstorm came up kicking up lots of dust so glad that the glass wasn't exposed to that.

Won a SB-600 right before I left on eBay and it arrived while I was gone. It is in near perfect condition and appears to work flawlessly. Hopefully I'll be able to get out and start doing some practicing with it soon.

The Moose Is Loose!

Or at least one of them anyways. This one was in the neighborhood yesterday, mom and dad were nowhere to be found.

To shoot or not to shoot?

That is the question. I'm headed down to the Las Vegas area next month for the Red Rock Rendezvous climbing event. I go down every year for work since we're the organizers of it and there are a lot of long days and not much free time.

The area we're in is beautiful, Spring Mountain Ranch State Park and Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. I've seen great images from both places and would like to try and capture some myself, the problem being that I don't know if I'll have the time to really get away from the event and have the opportunity to do some things on my own or if I will be confined to the event grounds and be frustrated that I'm unable to get out with my camera.

Fortunately I have a month or so to decide what I'm going to do but I have a feeling that this will be one of those decisions that gets made the night before I leave as I'm packing the last of my gear.

I've started putting the photos from DC into a somewhat edited version that can be viewed as a synopsis of the week. The gallery can be found at http://2062point5.smugmug.com/gallery/7205505_PyJNe#456946236_B5b9G

A couple from DC

Well, we're back from the inauguration. What an amazing time it was. I'm just now starting to sort through the nearly 2000 pictures that we took while there so here are just a couple to start with. I can say that I have more hope for the future of this country than I have had in a long time. I really believe that President Obama will set this country on the right direction and that we will be much better both as a nation and as a civilization at the end of his term(s) in office.

2051.7

Ran up to the cabin this morning to check on things, 2071.7 is the current lake elevation. Saw a low temperature of -17 on the drive up. It was a beautiful clear day. Things were good other than the top of one tree being broken off. Anyways here are a few pictures from up there and a series of a deer from the folks house after we got back to town.
